Background

Manchester Airport is investing more than £1bn to give the North the world class international gateway it deserves. The Manchester Airport Transformation Programme (MAN-TP) will modernise and transform facilities to combine a contemporary look and feel with state-of-the-art services.

It will see Terminal 2 more than double in size to become the airport’s main centre of gravity.

The new, enlarged terminal will have a range of state-of-the-art features and will be designed to deliver a smooth and seamless passenger experience.

Scope Of Works

We were tasked with installing an array of waterproofing and gasproofing solutions externally, to protect the structure from the ingress of water and harmful ground gases

This presitgous project, was both large in scope and in complexity.

Challenges Faced

Sheer Scope and complexity.

Challenging site conditions including;

Operating within a vast site, with many other trades.

Resourcing  an ambitious programme / completion target.

Complex installation requirements.

Challenging weather conditions for the vast majority of the project.

Solutions

In conjunction with our construction & supply chain partners we ensured all deadlines were met and all materials installed to the very highest of standards.

We installed a vast amount of GCP Gasproofing and waterproofing products to the substructure.

GGM400 was used at ground level under the slab to protect against ground gases whilst performing a tertiary function as a high performance dpm .

GCP’s array of pre and post applied “Preprufe” membranes were used to protect the subterreanian structure which also required protecting from a hydro-static head of water pressure.
